Good hygien riegns under the fingernails

Yay! Finally, after weeks of waiting to get a g-mail account, I finally have a blog! For starters, I thought I might share a poem that I wrote.

"No More Darkness Underneath My Fingernails"
By Macy Ball, based on "Darkness Under The Fingernails" by Alan Starnes (my great-uncle)

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

I used my toenail cleaner
To perk up my demeanor.

And to my joy and my surprise,
The amount of which no one can surmise,
There is no more darkness
Underneath my fingernails.

No more will I have snails
That go so slow and then leave trails
Underneath my fingernails.

No more blue skin
And no more hair
That make people shriek when they see me again.

There is joy, I have seen,
That comes to people who are clean.
Because they have no darkness
Underneath their fingernails.

No more shall I have to comb that hair
That really has become a care.

No more will people stop and stare
"My, he has such ugly hair!"

Will it ever come back again?
I do not know.
That hair that shows up so well in the snow.
I hope it does not grow on my toe.

But Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

No more snails!
No more trails!
And no more darkness
Underneath my fingernails.

Unless - alas!
I should have to mow the grass!
If it should ever be my turn
Would I ever be so stern.

THE END

I'll see about posting the story that this is based on.
